Stefanie is a Licensed Marriage (Couples) & Family Therapist (LMFT) which means she views your concerns through an interpersonal lens. She focuses on how systems and context influence your current experience and strives to help connect you to resources to feel more engaged in your life. She works from a Narrative, Experiential, Solutions-Focused lens centered around you as the expert on your life.
Her objective is to empower you to develop your own goals and support you in making them happen. She often incorporates DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills such as emotion regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness into between session work. She has experience addressing a variety of clinical concerns including anxiety, depression, attention deficit, suicidality and self-harm. She enjoys helping students with concerns related to being a gender or sexual minority (i.e. LGBTQIA+), a first-generation college student or with relationships. She is a CSTIP (Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional) and an EDIP (Eating Disorder Informed Professional).
Before becoming a therapist, she taught international college students English, taught ESL (English as a Second Language) in South Korea and was a youth development volunteer with the US Peace Corps in the Philippines. Prior to UWEC, she worked in inpatient treatment in Seattle, WA. In her free time, she loves to read, bike and spend time with loved ones.
