Tholáge Training Eligibility Requirements
Independently Licensed Mental Health Professionals
- To qualify for training AND CEUs, Mental Health Clinicians must have a Master’s Degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Social Work, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, or Psychiatry) or a related mental health discipline, and they must be independently licensed to practice through their state board or province. At this time, no CEUs are being offered to psychologists.
- To qualify for training, Medical Doctors must be licensed to practice in their state or province. At this time, no CEUs are being offered to MDs.
- To qualify for training, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher degree), and they must have a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing and be licensed to practice through their state board or province. At this time, no CEUs are being offered to APRNs.
Provisionally or Pre-Licensed Mental Health Professionals
To qualify for training and CEUs, Pre-Licensed Mental Health Clinicians must:
- Have a Master’s Degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Social Work, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, or Psychiatry) or a related mental health discipline.
- Be actively pursuing an independent license through their state board (or province) while working under an independently licensed supervisor.
- Verify their eligibility by submitting a letter from their current supervisor, who must attest that the applicant is under the supervision of an independently licensed mental health clinician AND is actively working toward independent licensure through their state board or province. We request that the letter is written and signed on the supervisor’s office letterhead; please have the supervisor include their license information and number in the letter. Email the letter as a PDF to [email protected] at least 10 days before the first day of training.
Some examples of provisional licenses include these words: intern, associate, limited, provisional, temporary, and pre-license. This also includes LPC/LSWs who are not independently licensed and who are still under clinical supervision.
Graduate Students
To qualify for training, graduate students must:
- Be enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in the mental health field (Counseling, Social Work, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, or Psychiatric Nursing) or a related mental health discipline.
- Have completed their core graduate academic coursework.
- Be in the practicum/internship portion of their graduate program. Graduate students who are not in practicum/internship are not eligible for training.
- Be on a licensing track and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician.
- Verify their eligibility by submitting a copy of their current graduate school transcript and a letter from their current supervisor, who must attest that the applicant is under the supervision of an independently licensed mental health clinician AND is actively working toward licensure. We request that the letter is written and signed on the supervisor’s office letterhead; please have the supervisor include their license information and number in the letter.
